Q.What is Panchakarma
Panchakarma procedures are bio-cleansing (shodhana- purification) procedures which help to expel accumulated toxins from the body whereas other treatments are palliative in nature treating the body without removing the toxins.
Panchakarma includes five purificatory procedures for removing toxins from the body:
Medicated emesis (vamana)- for removing aggravated kapha and pitta.
Medicated purgation (virechana) – for pitta.
Medicated oil enema ( anuvasana basti ) for vata.
Medicated decoction enema ( niruha basti) for vata.
Medicated nasal drops (nasya) – for all the diseases of head and neck region.
Q.What are the benefits of panchakarma
The most important benefit of the purificatory process is removal of toxins from the body which regenerate cells quickly and the person gains good strength, immunity, and vitality. Every system of the body starts to function normally which helps in maintaining normalcy and better health.
Q. Can I receive treatment during the days of menstrual flow?
Although it is not recommended during the periods but if it appears in between during long stay, we can tailor the cleansing program as per need of the individual patient.
Q. Does Panchakarma offer instant relief in my conditions?
Panchakarma first relieves the toxins from the body and its healing effects begin to show up gradually. Although in certain conditions like musculoskeletal problems, various kind of arthritis and nurological problems you can notice the immediate relief and positive changes.
Q. Can a normal person can do panchakarma?
People with optimum health should also go for Panchakarma. Due to our faulty dietary habits and lifestyle, we are accumulating toxins inside our body. Panchakarma is a natural detox procedure so a healthy person also can join this program for detox, relaxation, rejuvenation and promotion of his health. It can increase the immunity, vigor and vitality which can prevent the onset of the disease process. Prevention is always better than cure.
Q. What is a typical daily schedule for me during my Panchakarma treatment?
6:30 a.m., Lemon water followed by walk
7:00, Diaphragmatic breathing, joints & glands exercises and relaxation
7:45, Breakfast
8:30, Optional prayers at the Dhanvantri temple (presiding deity of Ayurveda)
9:00, Consultation with doctors
Individual consultation time varies as per appointment
9.30-11Am, Ayurvedic treatment sessions
Timings of individual treatments may vary depending on patient load and particular slot allocated for therapy in before noon or after noon )
11:30-1:00 p.m., Rest
1:30 -2.00 PM Lunch
2:30-4:30 , Therapies
3:30-4:30, Diaphragmatic breathing, joints & glands exercises and relaxation

Q. Where do I fly into?
You can tfly from Delhi to Dehradun airport which is only 5 kilometer from our centre. You can hire taxi from Dehradun airport to Ayurvedic centre of Himalayan Institute hospital and can reach with in 10 minutes.
Q. What are the check in and check out times.?
Check in preferably 9 AM to 1PM if you want therapy on arrival day.
Check in upto 4 PM in case if not possible earlier but no therapy will be provided on arrival day.
Check in on Sunday is not possible.
Check out time 9 AM after complimentary breakfast.
Q. What do I need before planning to go panchkarma?
Smoking, alcohol and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited in the Ayurvedic Centre. So it is advisable to quit these habits before you join this program and also practice vegetarianism.
Q. Can I extend my stay at Ayurveda centre?
Yes depending upon the availability you can extend your stay after discussion with your consultant physician.
Q.How do I make payment?
Payment can be made upon arrival by cash/credit card/visa card for foreign currency. For advance booking deposit 50 percent and inform us of the transfer details so we can verify receipt of funds. Please do not wire any funds until your bookings has been approved by ayurvedic centre.
Do you start the treatment on the same day of admission?
Generally, if the patient arrives before noon, treatment can be arranged on the same day. If coming in the afternoon, therapy can be planned from next day. Sunday & on national holidays we do not take new guests.
What should we bring when we come there for treatment?
You should bring all the relevant medical reports and clothing for your daily use. Modest, casual, comfortable clothing is recommended. Please bring your own toiletries if you have any specific choice.
